AFDM visit to Finnebrogue
Members of the Advanced Food & Drink Manufacturing Network (AFDM) got the chance to tour Finnebrogue’s world leading facility in Downpatrick recently. Founded in 1991, Finnebrogue has grown from a family farm to the thriving £200 million food business it is today.
Members received a behind-the-scenes look at the sausage & burger facility, witnessing firsthand the innovation and attention to detail which has gone into making it one of the most advanced processing facilities on the island of Ireland and learning how they’ve integrated data capture, automation and robotisation.
After the tour, Finnebrogue’s Research & Development, Technical & Sustainability Director Declan Ferguson was on hand to answer members questions and tell them more about how Finnebrogue has grown and developed.
Talking about the tour, network facilitator Ashley Hassin said “As part of our work with the network, we’re keen to visit facilities which are effectively using data capture, automation and robotisation to show our members what is possible. Finnebrogue is a shining example of this and it was great to gain an in-depth understanding of what they do - thanks to Declan and his team for making it possible”
The AFDM Network is supported by Invest Northern Ireland through its Collaborative Growth Programme. The programme aims to help businesses in Northern Ireland to grow and develop by working together to share knowledge, resources and expertise.
